TGUSA: Winter Drop Top

No one drives an open-top convertible on a cold winter season. The boys of Top Gear (the hit US show) says "says who?". To find out if you can really drive open-top cars on a cold winter day, the gang are driving all-wheel drive convertibles at Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Adam goes for the Jaguar F-Type R Convertible with AWD, Rut goes for the BMW 650i Cabrio with xDrive, while Tanner goes for the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio. There's the twist; the winner will have to race against the loser who is going to be with a dogsled team.

The first challenge involves driving through the icy straight and then open the roof while racing through the finish line. Sadly, the BMW's open-top mechanism faces problems due to temperatures, therefore Tanner wins.

Next, the boys will try out the cars' 4WD powertrain at the Bridgestone winter driving school. In this challenge, Tanner takes the win despite the boys set him up with a freezing Le Mans start.

Later, the boys are playing car hockey with their cars and in here, they have to find out how fast they can shoot the puck to the goal. Adam wins in this challenge.

In the last challenge, the boys are going on a winner-take-all game of car rodeo. With Rut lost and now goes dog-sledding, Tanner's up for the challenge to race against Rut in a dogsled. As a matter of fact, Tanner and the Porsche won the race while Rut's...looking bizarre when he left the sled full of dogs.

What's it about Shanghai Disney Resort?

Shanghai Disney Resort

The Shanghai Disney Resort has been recently opened to the public yesterday as guests of all ages have been eager enough to enter the wonderful world of Disney in Shanghai, China. So, what is it then, this Shanghai Disney Resort?

This $5.5 billion investment is one of Disney's most ambitious projects ever imagined and about 330 million people within a three-hour radius of Shanghai will be able to visit the park on opening day. Originally, before the opening, there should be an opening gala filled with music, acrobats, and more, until the rainy weather hampered until last night, where viewers witnessed the spectacle, which was televised on Disney Channel. In the gala, spectators witnessed the ever-changing colors of the iconic castle, musical performances by China's talented singers, acrobat performances, and many more as well as the appearance of Mickey Mouse to do the honor.

Because this new tourist destination is on Chinese soil, the Main Street has been renamed as Mickey Avenue to reduce the "American" feel while attractions include the Wandering Moon tea house, a Chinese Zodiac-themed garden, and a Tarzan musical with Chinese acrobats. There are so many attractions offered in this newly opened theme park in Shanghai and the family who are spending their summer vacation can't wait to try most of the attractions offered in Shanghai Disney Resort.

There are hotels offered such as the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel for the upper-class of guests to stay for the night and the Toy Story Hotel, which claims to be "family fun for all sizes".

Other destinations include Disneytown, where visitors can explore a shopping, dining, and entertainment district unlike any other, as well as witnessing the Mandarin-language debut of the legendary Lion King musical at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre, as well as Wishing Star Park featuring the Wishing Star Lake, Dragonfly Playground, and the Starlight Amphitheater for those who love stargazing.

Ticket prices (As of now):

1 x Child (1.0-1.4 M) (¥375.00 CNY/ticket)

THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: Relisting N. Korea on terrorist state list

A US House committee on Thursday passed a bill calling for relisting North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism. There are 21 terror acts subject to re-examination as to whether North Korea should be redesignated as a state sponsor of terrorism by the US.

North Korea was put on the US terrorism sponsor list for the 1987 mid-air bombing of a Korean Air flight that killed all 115 people aboard but the US administration of former President George W. Bush removed the Korean Peninsula from the list in 2008 in exchange for progress in denuclearization talks.

Top 10 Things We Learned from E3 2016

This year's E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) showcase ran from the 12th up to the 16th of June, 2016 and video game aficionados from all over the world witnessed new and exciting announcements from the world of video games. So, what did we learned at this year's E3, anyhow?

10) Forza Horizon goes to Australia - The third installment of the open-world driving Forza Horizon series has announced and it's coming to the XBOX One and Windows 10 PC this late September 2016. Forza Horizon 3 takes players to the ever-changing landscape of Australia. Why Australia? Apart from its beautiful landscape compared to Southern Europe from FH2, little did we know that every time when a new car launches, it shows its promotional video where a new car drives around Australian roads for whatever reasons we don't understand. Now, it's the players' turn to indulge in this "universal automotive playground". Unlike past installments, Forza Horizon 3 allows players to manage their own Horizon Festival by creating their own races, hire friends, and make their festival popular. Apart from the new cars offered including the cover car Lamborghini Centenario, there are new ways to customize such as new rim styles and for the first time, body kits.

9) More Pokemon Sun and Moon info - At the Nintendo E3 booth, there's another set of Pokemon Sun and Moon info on the radar. Three new Pokemon that will be very common on your first trip at the Alola region are introduced and these are Pikipek, Yungoos, and Grubbin. The legendary Pokemons Solgaleo and Lunala uncovered their powerful forms such as Solgaleo's Radiant Sun phase and Lunala's Full Moon phase. Is this their way of unleashing their true powers? We'll find out soon btu anyway, the mythical Magearna (that is set to appear in next month's Pokemon movie alongside Volcanion) is coming to Sun and Moon via a certain QR code. What could that be? Find out soon.

8) Biohazard 7 Resident Evil announced - Capcom's legendary survival horror series unveiled their worst-kept secret yet and yes, the long-awaited Biohazard 7 Resident Evil (Resident Evil VII biohazard) has announced and one thing that worries us that unlike past installments; Biohazard 7 is set at a haunted house in the bayou and nothing else. No tales about brave soldiers fighting against terrorism, no evil villains plotting global terrorism, and nothing else like you expect from the past games. It's just you, venturing through a haunted house and that's about it. The game will launch on the PS4, XBOX One, and PC, on the 26th of January, 2017. For PS4 owners, there's a playable demo called "Haunted Hour" available for free for PS Plus subscribers. Believe it or not, this is the first Biohazard game to be fully compatible with PS VR headset. Be warned. It's going be one heck of a scarefest.

7) TWD's Daryl Dixon got a second chance in a new Hideo Kojima game - Last year, when Hideo Kojima left Konami, he formed himself a fully-independent Kojima Productions and following his announcement, he will be making a PS4-exclusive game in the future. This is what they come up with, a PS4-exclusive game starring Norman Reedus, famed for being Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead TV show, titled Death Stranding. Currently in development, it's a great thing they gave Reedus a second chance to be a video game star following last year's cancellation of the PT project he, Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro working on.

6) A CRASHing comeback - Remember Crash Bandicoot? Yep, we played those games back in the PSX when you and I are just kids. Guess what, our favorite wild bandicoot hero is back and it will have a special Playstation-exclusive appearance in Skylanders Imaginators, coming this 16th of October. Because it's Crash Bandicoot's 20th anniversary when it was first launched in August 31st, 1996 (welcome to the club, Crash!), Activision announced a remastered collection of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy coming to the PS4 next year; featuring the first Crash Bandicoot game, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot WARPED. Cue the Aku Aku sound effect, ladies and gents!

5) COD Infinite Warfare's going to be out-of-this-world explosive - The Infinity Ward-developed Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is this year's addition to the famed franchise, where warfare now expands to the solar system. At the PlayStation's E3 press conferences, fans and attendees got their first taste on what's in store in Infinite Warfare such as the first look at the Ship Assault mission, where players have to regain control of the UNSA Retribution from the Settlement Defense Front. CHECK IT OUT.

4) Your first look at the new Spider-man - Ever since's Spiderman's surprise appearance in the recent Marvel CIVIL WAR movie, we got shocked to find out what's next for our friendly neighborhood Spider-man. In this brand new PS4-exclusive Spider-Man game, developed by the same studio behind the rebooted Ratchet and Clank game (which spawned a movie, of course), fans will get a first glimpse on the new look of everyone's favorite webslinger.

3) What's Nintendo in store at E3 2016? - I already mentioned about additional info regarding the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon game but Nintendo has big plans in store on the 2016-2017 calendar. They announced a new installment to the Legend of Zelda series called The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (due 2017 for the Wii U), Paper Mario Color Splash (coming fall 2016 on the Wii U), a special Pokemon Go Plus accessory coming this summer, Ever Oasis (coming 2017 for the 3DS), Mario Party Star Rush (coming this late 2016 for the 3DS), and many others that are too many to list.

2) Sony goes big about PSVR - With the PS VR launch imminent, Sony has big plans about the upcoming PS4 games with VR compatibility. They showcase stuff like Tethered, How We Soar, Statik, Batman: Arkham VR, Here They Lie, Farpoint, stuff like that to demonstrate the capabilities of the PlayStation VR.

1) Big news for XBOX - Microsoft knows how to kill two birds with one stone at this year's E3 by announcing a minor change to the XBOX One called the XBOX One S, with bigger memory output, 4K compatibility, and a slimmer design. It's set to hit stores this August, starting at 299 US dollars. Following the X1S comes with the announcement of a more powerful XBOX Microsoft working on under the project name Scorpio. Due at the end of 2017, it will come with 4K and VR capability and works with XBOX One games.

THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: S. Korea FM calls N. Korea's nuclear development anachronistic

At the bilateral economic forum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, South Korea's foreign minister Yun Byung-se called North Korea's nuclear weapons development anachronistic, saying that North Korea cannot turn back time and will have to realize that the global community is turning its back towards the regime.

The minister also mentioned the revolutionary events the world is undergoing such as the normalization of ties between the US and Cuba, wishing that such will also blow into Pyongyang.

TO tackle the North Korea issue and work on other mutual interests, Yun hoped to build up on the various cooperation channels between South Korea and Russia.

Meanwhile, China's Ministry of Commerce has expanded the list of items banned for export to North Korea, in an effort to prevent Pyongyang from building more nuclear weapons. The list includes 40 items including magnetic materials, laser-welding equipment and chemicals that could further produce chemical warfare agents.

The ministry said the new list is part with UN sanctions adopted in March as punishment for Pyongyang's nuclear test early this year.

So, Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, thanks to his pole position during qualifiers, scored himself another win despite a heated battle between him, Nico Rosberg, and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel (due to bad pit stop strategy that worried the German ace driver). Of course, with Hamilton wins while Vettel placed 2nd, Williams got in for a treat as its driver, Valtteri Bottas, tasted his podium finish by entering third place in the race.

Meanwhile though, there's tensions brewing between the two young Red Bull drivers, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo. The team advised Verstappen to let Ricciardo pass him after the Australian fell behind his teammate at the start. However, the refusal consigning him to a seventh place. Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz is reluctant in the race because despite his crash at the qualifiers and a poor gearbox issue, he finished 9th.

As the top three teams are edging themselves for the constructors' championship of the season, Hamilton's recent win made him 43 points behind Rosberg.

Toyota Premio and Allion - Second Generation (2017 minor change)

The second-generation Toyota Premio and Allion saloons has been around for about nine years when they appeared in 2007, even though they're just luxurious or sporty alternatives to the commoners' choice, the Toyota Corolla. It's 2016 and these cars have been around like an eternity. We were expecting newer versions of these saloons but what did Toyota do with these ageing saloons? Yep, a second minor change. How organic...

2017 Toyota Premio
2017 Toyota Allion

The recent minor change for these saloons sees a much enlarged front grille that took some cues from the Toyota Crown saloons and although awkward to look at, there is little change on the rear view as well.

2017 Toyota Premio interior
2017 Toyota Allion interior

There are small changes on the interior such as a new instrumental panel, 4.2-inch TFT LCD, and the addition of brown interior color. That's it, nothing else you can ask about what's new.

2017 Toyota Allion
2017 Toyota Premio

You still have a choice between a 2.0L 3ZR-FAE a 1.8L 2ZR-FAE engine, or a 1.5L 1NZ-FE engine with Stop & Start system that shuts off the engine when stopped at the red light and then restarts when set off, each mated with a Super CVT-i gearbox. The 1.5L model is the fuel-efficient in the range, with fuel consumption of around 19.2km/L based on JC08 mode standards.

Speaking of changes, the Premio and Allion now comes with Toyota Safety Sense C, comprising of Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and the Automatic High Beam function, for added safety of course.

The 2017MY Premio starts from 1,908,655 to 2,686,255 Japanese Yen while the 2017MY Allion starts from 1,897,855 to 2,650,909 Japanese Yen. The Allion is offered in Toyota dealerships across Japan while the Premio is offered only in Toyopet dealerships across Japan, there I said it.
