Equus vs. MJ

2010 Hyundai Equus

2010 Toyota Crown Majesta

Both of these Asian premium sedans were launched in March 2009 but I wonder which of these two Asian premium sedans is best enough for a wealthy conglomerate to relax on the road? Both the Hyundai Equus VI and the 5th-generation Toyota Crown Majesta are a sovereign treats for a wealthy businessmen or even politicians. Well, time for me to think about these two;

CASE ONE:
The Hyundai Equus VI is actually the second-generation of Hyundai's premium sedan, the Equus (known in the other markets as the Centennial). The Equus was launched in 1999 and positioned as the flagship of Hyundai. Its rival is the Kia Enterprise (and now the Opirus/Amanti). The second-generation Equus (codenamed VI) was an extended length version of the Genesis sedan, providing its FR drive-train, new Tau V8 engine, and loads of luxurious features fit for the Korean royalties. It even came with the Limousine version since Autumn 2009 as well. At 2011, all Equus variants are equipped with the new Lambda 3.8 Gasoline Direct Injection engine while the flagship variant comes with the all-new 5.0L GDI engine. This new engine provides the maximum power rate of 430ps/6400rpm, 52kg-m/5000rpm of torque, and 8.8km/L of fuel economy. It is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the inside, the driver's view looks exquisite, seats are comfortable, rear TV added, most of the premium features are top-notch.

CASE TWO:
The Toyota Crown Majesta is the flagship spin-off from the legendary Crown series. From the Majesta's first three generations, we saw the Majesta wearing the legendary Crown emblem. When the 12-generation Crown appeared in December 2003, sporting the new Crown emblem, the 4th-generation Majesta appeared on July 2004 and it was the first Majesta not to wear the Crown emblem, it only wears the Toyota corporate logo on the front. Eccentric for a flagship spin-off? When the Toyota Celsior was renamed as the Lexus LS, in light of the Lexus brand in Japan, the Crown Majesta became the brand's flagship sedan. In March 2009, the Majesta reached its fifth-generation and it's more of an enlarged version of the 13th-generation Toyota Crown series. What's new on the Majesta is the 1UR-FSE (4.6L V8) engine derived from the Lexus LS460. This engine comes with the D4-S direct injection system, capable of releasing 347PS of power, 46-9kg-m of torque, and the fuel economy of 9.4km/L. In comparison, the Majesta is fuel efficient than the Equus' 5.0L V8 engine. It is also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The driver's view of the 5th-generation Majesta might seems to be borrowed from the Crown Royal and the Fine Graphic Meter was derived from the Crown Hybrid. On the passenger's side, with the Majesta F-Type G Package, the Center Console packs a lot of conveniences. the Premium Sound System, the Ottoman seat on the left, the speakers on the headreast, every premium conveniences made the Majesta a majestic premium sedan!

In terms of design, both the Equus and the Majesta stands out but if I had to choose one, I'd say it will be the Equus because of its striking front and back. The Majesta's design needs to be more fine because the fifth-generation's look was actually derived more from the previous generation, making it a confusion. In terms of comfort, I'd say it will be the Majesta because the passengers' side is the best because of the speakers mounted on the headrest, Premium Sound System, and the center console that is too plenty for them. The Majesta's Fine Graphic Meter is a wow factor. It's up to you to decide which of these Asian premium sedans is the best...

Hyundai New Equus Limousine

Since March 2009, Hyundai Motor Company has just released the all-new Equus, packed with new packaging, new luxury features, and the new Rear-wheel drive feature introduced since the Genesis launched in January 2008. If the normal-sized Equus not fit enough for the wealthy people everywhere, spark this;

The stretched long wheelbase version of the Equus known as the "Equus Limousine" has just finally arrived like a phoenix rise from the ashes of the luxury car industry. Since this is the Limousine variant, it matches the identical length of the long wheelbase versions of such premium sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LS, and BMW 7-Series. Unlike the regular Equus, the front grille sports aggressively on the Limousine variant, giving this one-of-a-kind Korean luxury sedan the commanding excitement offered for the rich and famous. Although the rear side remains the same as the regular Equus, the side view filled with surprises, including the "Limousine" badge on the middle side of the Equus Limousine, to distinguish which Equus is the longest.

Although the regular Equus sports either a 3.8-litre V6 engine or the 4.5-litre Tau V8 engine, the longer Limousine variant sports two majestic engines to choose from: a Lambda V6 3.8-litre engine and the all-new 5.0-litre, Tau V8 engine that delivers 400PS of power. Available features on the Limousine variant is the world's first Emergency Stop Signal and Smart Cruise Control for driving moderation.

BETTER BE PREPARED TO WANT ONE

Now that the Equus Limousine, which is longer than the regular Equus, is out to Korean roads, consider the luxurious amenities offered for the wealthy businesspeople to provide comfort and relaxation for every man himself. The longer the premium sedan, the harder this luxury car falls against its rivals. The new Equus Limousine will soon stand tall against premium limousines that compete for the premium sedan crown. Let us hope wealthy Korean people get their dramatic hands on the luxury features made on the all-new Equus Limousine.

Hyundai New Equus VI

2010 Hyundai Equus

Despite the economy splintered into chunks, Hyundai Motor Company, the brand behind the luxurious Genesis and the aggressive Genesis Coupe, just unleashed their true prestige sedan that is above all the rest of luxury saloons in the world. The new Equus has just come out from the curtain and into the guiding light of the automotive industry.

It is like this; the Genesis was the first FR sedan from Hyundai that battles the Audi A6, Lexus GS, MB E-Class, and the Nissan Fuga. (Infiniti M) Then, the Genesis Coupe is the first FR coupe that is also targeted by most iconic sports cars such as the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, Nissan Fairlady Z (370Z), Nissan Skyline (Infiniti G) and other European sports cars such as the BMW M3, MB CLK-Class, and Audi A5. For the newly evolved Equus, this premiere saloon is the betting target of the MB S-Class, Lexus LS, Audi A8, and the Nissan Cima (Infiniti Q). First launched in 1999, and exported in other markets as the Centennial and in Japan as the Mitsubishi Proudia (not to mention it was disappeared from the Japanese markets a few years ago), the Equus is a breakthrough luxury sedan among executives everywhere.

There are five words to describe the true beauty of the Equus; Excellent, Quality, Unique, Universal, Supreme. These five pure words clearly analyze the look and feel of the Equus. Now in its new form, new engine and new FR drive train, it finally evolved into something more what they expect from other luxury cars. There are two available engines only the New Equus has to offer, first is the award winning 4.6L Tau V8 engine found on the US-Spec Genesis provides a maximum power of 366ps with the fuel economy of 8.8km/L and the high-performance 3.8L Lambda V6 engine capable of carrying 290PS with the fuel economy of 9.3km/L. Besides the 6-speed automatic transmission, there are new safety features of the new Equus, such as the Pre-Safe Seatbelt, Lane Departure Warning System, and the completely new way for convenient parking, PGS (Parking Guide System)

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS: Hyundai is finally fight back the wages of the shattered economy thanks to its premiere luxury sedan, the Equus. Much ado from that, the previous generation Equus was a centennial to other markets. Now with the newly redesigned Equus, this premiere machine is ready to take on others, as you have never seen before. In addition, when it hits the worldwide market, it also be called a Centennial anymore, rather, it would also be another name for the new Equus or possibly another Genesis machine with a sleeker name you can guess at.
