Superamerica 45 - The third Ferrari under the Special Projects portfolio

In 2008, Ferrari revived the Special Projects program, a program dedicated to create a one-off special Ferrari for the very special clients or VIPs. The first is the Ferrari SP1, a F430-based special Ferrari designed exclusively for Mr. Junichiro Hiramatsu, the chairman of a very famous Ferrari club in Japan and an avid collector of everything Ferrari.

Later on, in 2010, the second Ferrari under the Special Projects portfolio is the P540 Superfast Aperta, a special Ferrari based on the 599 GTB Fiorano for a special client named Edward Walson, the son of John Walson who invented cable TV.

Now, in 2011, Ferrari created the third special Ferrari under the Special Projects programmed and this one is heavily based on the Ferrari 599 (the same as the Superfast Aperta). It was unveiled ahead on the Villa d’Este Concours d’Eleganza (Concours d'Elegance) in Italy and made for a wealthy playboy in New York, avid collector (just like Junichiro Hiramatsu), and the former owner of the New York Post, Peter Kalikow.

It might seem to be based on the 599 but it was heavily based on the limited model Ferrari SA APERTA. Mr. Peter Kalikow's excited to see his very own Ferrari and most of the Ferrari owners will get jealous. Peter Kalikow's the third special client since Junichiro Hiramatsu and Edward Walson to ask Ferrari to create their own special Ferrari models under the Special Projects portfolio. We're getting jealous....
