Let's Do The News! (August 13, 2015)

- An explosion occurred  at a warehouse storing chemical goods in the port area of China's northern city of Tianjin, killing 17 people and injuring a hundred more.

- Former US president Jimmy Carter says that his recent liver surgery revealed that he has cancer spreading to other parts of his body. He said he will reveal more of his critical health condition possibly next week and he will undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta.

- The United Nations has fired the head of the peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic amid allegations of sexual abuse. UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon told reporters that Babacar Gaye from Senegal has resigned upon his request.

- Yesterday, an American military helicopter has crash-landed onto a transport ship off the southern Japanese island of Okinawa, injuring seven people including SDF members on board. It is believed that the chopper made contact with a crane on the deck of a vessel, causing it to crash. Right now, the Okinawan government has asked the Defense Ministry for more information regarding the recent chopper crash.

- The substitute Bangsamoro Basic Law proposed by Senator Bongbong Marcos will include the Moro National Liberation Front  present in the Bangsamoro Transition Authority. With his substitute BBL, all stakeholders and sectors that have been overlooked by the government and the MILF will have their chance to be part of the transitional period.

- According to the Department of Health, 79 individuals that tested positive of Human Immunodeficiency Virus is June acquired the said virus from engaging with women through paid sex.

- According to reports, the City of Dreams Manila suspended 100 workers as part of their cost-cutting measures for one of the Philippines' biggest casinos and resorts. Quite an irony, isn't it?

- Following Robin Padilla apologizing to Japanese porn star Maria Ozawa over his withdrawal from the shooting of a horror movie they were supposed to be, he managed to take a stab against Ozawa's "unprofessional" comments and calling her selfish. Right now, he's got bigger things to deal with as well as Mariel Rodriguez's pregnancy.

- In case you missed it, the Golden State Warriors, the 2015 NBA champions, are coming to Manila for a one-day visit on the 5th of September as part of their Asian tour courtesy of Under Armor.
