- The Philippine military said it was likely that large numbers of civilians had been killed during the five-week occupation of Marawi by Islamist rebels, due to "atrocities" by the militants allied with Islamic State. The death toll of 27 residents was only what the authorities could independently confirm and a "significant number" of dead had been seen by those who had escaped fighting.

- President Rodrigo Duterte lashes out against his critics over rumors on what he was out of the limelight in recent days.

- Qatar's 2022 World Cup organizers welcomed the long-awaited FIFA report on the race to host the tournament. The report, which also investigated the bidding process for the 2018 World Cup, made no suggestion that either Russia or Qatar should lose the right to stage the tournament, despite detailing numerous attempts to influence voting officials.

- US Senate Republicans postponed a vote on a health care overhaul after resistance from members of their own party, and President Donald Trump summoned Republican senators to the White House to urge them to break the impasse. The delay put the future of a longtime top Republican priority in doubt amid concerns about the Senate bill from both moderate and conservative Republicans.

- Indonesian authorities imposes a travel ban against tycoon and politician Hary Tanoesoedibjo, who is building resorts to be managed by Trump hotels, over an investigation into allegations he threatened a prosecutor via a text message.

- Aston Martin announced that the electric saloon called the RapidE will commence production this 2019 with limited to 155 units. Also, the DB11 is now available with the Mercedes-AMG derived 4.0L V8 BiTurbo.

- Jaguar unveiled the XE SV Project 8, a 150,000 Pound V8-powered Jaguar XE that is limited to 300 units and helmed as the most powerful Jaguar ever made. It's also the most hardcore Jaguar ever built with track-honed dynamics and 1,745kg of weight.
