Jodie Whittaker named as the next Doctor Who

We knew it will happen but here it is. Following Chris Chibnall's takeover as the new showrunner of BBC's hit TV series Doctor Who, the star who will play as the 13th Doctor has been named and for the first time, an actress named Jodie Whittaker.

The BBC announced the star who will be playing The Doctor in next year's season, under the new rule of incoming Executive Producer Chris Chibnall, as Jodie Whittaker. This will be the first time a woman will be taking over the role of The Doctor from the outgoing Peter Capaldi, whose tenure will end at this year's Christmas Special which stars Adventures of Space and Time's David Bradley reprising his First Doctor role from the 2013 biopic into the world of Doctor Who.

Born in 1982, graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2005, Whittaker starred in many programs such as Broadchurch, Black Mirror, The Smoke, Cranford, The Night Watch, The Accused, and Tess of the D'Urbervilles.
