10 years of Uncharted

Ever since the first Uncharted game was launched on the PlayStation3 on the 26th of November, 2007, the name Nathan Drake is now well known to video game fanatics everywhere. The folks behind our childhood hero Crash Bandicoot wanted to create an action adventure game reminiscent of the Tomb Raider games and as the result, the very first male Lara Croft is here.

From the road to El Dorado to Libertalia, from endless calamities, shooting, running about, doing somersaults, a lot of high-speed driving, not to mention the memorable cast of characters in store for him, the adventures of Nathan Drake couldn't get even more epic than this and in celebration of the Uncharted franchise's 10th anniversary, let's take a quick history lesson on Naughty Dog's hit action adventure franchise that made a name on PlayStation history.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3/2007) - The first Uncharted game was launched on the PlayStation 3 ten years ago and in this first installment, Nathan Drake, along with allies Victor Sullivan and Elena Fisher, are on the search for Sir Francis Drake's treasure hidden somewhere in a South American ruins while being hunted down by pirates and mercenaries alike.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3/2009) - Two years after the original, the sequel to the Uncharted game was launched and in this second installment, Nate is on the Himalayas, discovering the Tree of Life as foretold by Marco Polo. With new and returning faces alike, his Himalayan adventure packs more twists, thrills, action, and some sense of humor than his El Dorado adventure from the beginning. This is the first to have multiplayer gameplay.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3/2011) - Known to be one of the most thrilling installment of the Uncharted saga, Nathan Drake is on a mission to find the lost civilization hidden under the Middle Eastern desert before a woman from Sully's past, Marlowe, gets to it first. We get to discover how fate brought Nate and Sully together and the deception lies within his "greatness." By land, air, and sea, this adventure is one heck of a ride in so many levels and with all that signature Uncharted moments on it, Drake's Deception is one of the most thrilling installments in the Uncharted saga.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss (PSVita/2012) - When the PSVita launched in the USA on the first quarter of 2012, Uncharted Golden Abyss is one of the PSVita's first offerings. Torn between the rivalry between Jason Dante - his old friend - and Marisa Chase - the granddaughter of an archaeologist who disappeared without a trace - Nate ventures throughout Central America in search of a lost civilization while being pursued by a warlord who wanted to get the riches that lies beneath the Golden Abyss. This game plays in both ways by either playing it old-school or taking advantage of the PSVita's capabilities such as touching, steering, and tilting. It even comes with the Fight for Fortune card game where you can collect cards, either in-game or DLC, and battle.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4/2016) - This is known to be the definitive installment of the Uncharted franchise when it was launched on the PlayStation4 last year. A Thief's End brings players the thrilling conclusion of Nathan Drake's story. Summoned by his older brother Sam, whom he thought he died in a middle of a prison bust 15 years ago, Nate steps out from his normal life and back into the world of thieves as he's on an epic globetrotting adventure from Europe to Africa to find Captain Avery's treasure. Believe it or not, there's a special cameo appearance by Crash Bandicoot himself. For those who are done witnessing the epic climax of Nate's journey, they can experience the most hardcore multiplayer gameplay as well as the new Survival mode via an update that came out this year alongside The Lost Legacy.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (PS4/2017) - The Lost Legacy is a standalone Uncharted spinoff set after the dramatic events of A Thief's End. In The Lost Legacy, the two familiar women in the Uncharted games returned for an uneasy alliance in search of an ancient artefact. I'm talking about Chloe Frazier, the woman who helped Nate in 2 and 3, and Nadine Ross, a mercenary who made Nate's life miserable in A Thief's End, joined forces as they explore the Western Ghats of India in search of an ancient treasure before a ruthless warlord gets his hands on it. Even with a different main character, it still has some signature Uncharted moments on it.

Happy tenth anniversary to Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise and here's for ten more years of epic treasure-hunting adventures!

Be sure to experience the beginning with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on the PlayStation4, which comes with the first three installments digitally remastered for this console. Then, see how it all ended in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and how it picks up after this in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Oh, and be sure to experience Uncharted on the PSVita on Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

Don't ruin the moment...
