2018 Verizon IndyCar Series FINAL

The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series has been one heck of a season to remember from Will Power winning the Indy 500 to Robert Wickens' life-threatening crash at Pocono that sent him to the hospital for an ongoing treatment. This season has been an unpredictable one from start to finish and now, here we are, the grand finale at Sonoma Raceway. Wine Country's the final destination for the IndyCar drivers as the epic finale will decide once and for all who will be crowned champion.

The finale begun with an unexpected beginning just as polesitter Ryan Hunter-Reay spearheaded the final race of the season, disaster struck as Alexander Rossi bumped to Marco Andretti, prompting him to enter the pits. Last year's champion Josef Newgarden is facing some mechanical issues later on and then, Takuma Sato pulled out of the race when massive clouds of smoke are pouring from the back of his car. Meanwhile, Rossi managed to fight his way to gun down Hunter-Reay for the lead as a yellow flag as triggered when Graham Rahal's suddenly slowing down.

When the race restarts, Rossi goes desperate as he's pulling everything to his power to get into the top ten while championship leader Scott Dixon stays to the pit strategy the Chip Ganassi Racing made. After the end of the race, Ryan Hunter-Reay wins the Sonoma race but the winner of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series goes to Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing. This is the fifth time the Kiwi nailed his championship victory.

Congratulations Scott Dixon for his fifth IndyCar title and that is the end of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series. See you next year!
