- The death toll from Typhoon Ompong is now up to 88.

- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte reminded the Armed Forces of the Philippines not to procure arms and other military hardware and intelligence gadgets from countries which may listen in on their conversations. Duterte made the reiteration as he attended the 12th activation anniversary of the Mechanized Infantry Division in Capas, Tarlac Thursday night.

- A member of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, retired Archbishop Edmundo Abaya passed away yesterday. Abaya, who was the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia in Ilocos Sur, died at around 3pm at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City. He was 89.
