- Senator Cynthia Villar vowed to hasten the creation of the rice competitiveness fund bill for the farmers who will be affected by President Duterte’s order to liberalizing rice importation in country.

- Malacanang said the reelection of the Philippines to the United Nations Human Rights Council only shows that the UN recognizes the country’s respect for human rights despite the claims of President Duterte’s critics.

- Senator JV Ejercito has allayed concerns that Philhealth's debts to private hospitals will mount even further should the proposed Universal Health Care program be implemented.

- US President Donald Trump warned that Saudi Arabai may face "severe punishment" if it turns out that missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

- A motorcycle rigged with explosives detonated at an election rally in northeastern Afghanistan on Saturday killing at least 13 people, including civilians and security forces, officials said.
