- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte credited Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu and Interior and local Government officer-in-charge Eduardo Año, two former military officials, for the six-month cleanup in Boracay.

- All Supreme Court Justices have been nominated for the vacant chief justice post, said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.

- US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis insisted he's on Donald Trump's side after the US President said in an interview that he could be leaving. “I’m on his team. We have never talked about me leaving,” he told journalists on a flight to Ho Chi Minh City where he is due to meet his Vietnamese counterpart.
