- Temperatures in Metro Manila dropped to a chilly 19 degress Thursday morning. According to PAGASA, the lowest temperature reading was recorded at around 7:50 a.m. at its Science Garden monitoring station in Quezon City.

- State prosecutors have asked a Davao City court to cancel Senator Antonio Trillanes IV's bail and serve arrest warrants against him for failing to seek permission to travel abroad.

- The Bureau of Immigration announced that a total of 257 foreign criminals who hid in the Philippines to evade criminal prosecution or service of sentence in their countries were arrested last year.

- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked US President Donald Trump to reschedule his annual State of the Union due to government shutdown. The president was set to give his annual speech to Congress on Jan. 29. But Pelosi said the partial shutdown has hamstrung both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security, potentially harming the security planning that precedes the primetime address.

- The government of embattled British PM Theresa May survived the no confidence vote by 325 to 306. Rebel Tory MPs and the DUP - who 24 hours earlier rejected the PM's Brexit plan by a huge margin - voted to keep her in Downing Street.

- The BMW 7-Series receives a minor change for 2020 model year and it gained a brand new and enlarged Kidney Grille.

- Michigan State University interim president John Engler submitted a letter of resignation Wednesday after making comments published last week suggesting some survivors of Larry Nassar's sexual abuse were "enjoying" the "spotlight."

- Turkish prosecutors are seeking an international arrest warrant for New York Knicks center Enes Kanter, accusing him of membership in a terror organization.
