DTM 2018: Zandvoort

The 2018 DTM championship continues at Circuit Zandvoort in The Netherlands, and with so many races occurred in the middle of the World Cup finale weekend, fans have felt the roar of the excitement as the tables kept on turning on the best and the brightest racers as the David and Goliath effect rattled the race to more meaningful ways.

In the first race, following a controversial qualifier that Wehrlein bashed Gary Paffett for ruining his lap, Paffett nicked his 23rd DTM win and his third victory this season with Paul Di Resta placed 2nd and Lucas Auer placed 3rd. In the second race, meanwhile, it's a comeback in the making as last year's champion Rene Rast secured his first win of the season and for Audi while Paffett placed 2nd and Di Resta 3rd.

Everything can happen in this season of DTM and next time, the DTM heads to Brands Hatch, United Kingdom, on the 11th to the 12th of August.

THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: Indonesia invites Korean leaders Moon, Kim to Asian Games

The leaders of the two Koreas have been invited to next month’s Asian Games in Indonesia, Jakarta said Monday, after the neighbors agreed to field several joint teams at the event.

Indonesian president Joko Widodo sent a formal invitation Friday to South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Widodo’s spokesman said, but it was not immediately clear if either has responded.

“The invitation letters have been sent to the leaders,” spokesman Johan Budi told AFP.

Last month, Asian Games organizers announced that North and South Korea will field joint teams in three sports — canoeing, rowing and women’s basketball — in a sign of thawing tensions.

The two countries — which are technically still at war after the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice instead of a peace treaty — will also march together at the opening and closing ceremonies for the showpiece event from August 18-September 2.

The two Koreas formed their first-ever unified Olympic team — a joint women’s ice hockey squad — for last February’s Winter Games in the South, with the North’s participation kicking off a thaw between the two neighbors.

The diplomatic detente also triggered a rapid improvement in relations between Pyongyang and Washington, culminating in last month’s summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump in Singapore.

The Asian Games, to be held in Jakarta and Palembang on Sumatra island, will feature some 11,000 athletes competing in 40 sports — the second-biggest multi-sport event behind the Olympics.

FIA WTCR 2018 - Race of Slovakia

Slovakia Ring became the next battleground for the 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO and the tables kept on turning on the best of the best as the battle for the title keeps on heating up in a middle of this incident-packed race weekend.

At the first race, Pepe Oriola of Team OSCORA gave the Cupra TCR the first win of its career, which isn't so bad for a fresh newcomer to the TCR grid. The second race, meanwhile, Gabriele Tarquini regain his championship lead after nicking his fourth win of the season after his duel with Norbert Nagy of Zengo Motorsports. And on the third race, BRC Racing Team's Norbert Michelisz scored his first victory, all thanks to his pole position advantage.

After Slovakia Ring, Tarquini's back in the lead with a two-point gap ahead of Yvan Muller, 202 vs. 200, while Yann Ehrlacher's in 3rd with 171 points.

The next race is at Ningbo for the Race of China-Ningbo on the 29th to the 30th of September, 2018.

I Love You, Hater

For the month of July, Star Cinema offered us another one of their rom-com offerings and while some of you are starting to believe that too much rom-coms are gonna bore you for no reason, take note that this new movie sees some fresh new talents and a return of someone you know.

I Love You, Hater

I Love You, Hater is a film stars Joshua Garcia, Julia Barretto, and formerly the queen of all media Kris Aquino. In this film, Joshua plays the role of a young man who tries so hard to support his family while Julia plays the role of a young woman who tries to prove herself to the world. When Sasha, played by Aquino, pits these two, the two young people ended up competing for who gets to be her new personal assistant.

This film is rather unheard for a rom-com because this film is turning into a lighthearted survival of the fittest as these two characters are going all out to vie for a new job, making viewers harder to decide which one will be with through the very end. Bitter rivalries aside, the love-hate scenario this film delivers maybe more sickening to the viewers' stomachs but they get the feeling that there will be a lot of people talking about this rather unique rom-com film that never fails to stil up some smiles on their faces and I Love You, Hater really hammers where it hits on the viewers' perspectives.

Satisfactory? Well, you can consider this film to be it, especially when you are seeing a film featuring the fresh faces from the showbiz industry and the former queen of all media who went AWOL for numerous reasons.

My rating: 3.4 out of 5.

Pacquiao wins Kuala Lumpur fight against Matthysse

The People's Champ, Manny Pacquiao, took on WBA Welterweight champion, Lucas Matthysse, in Kuala Lumpur's Axiata Arena. This is the first time the legendary Pacquiao, who is also a sitting senator in the Philippines, took on a battle without the supervision of his former coach, Freddie Roach, since the controversial Battle of Brisbane last year that tasted his loss.

At the start of the match, it looks like the WBA Welterweight Champion from Argentina is feeling a pinch by a flurry of punches thrown by Pacquiao and then, on the fifth round, Pacquiao's left punches really put a drop on Matthysse, literally. When the seventh round came, it's all over for Matthysse as Pacquiao's hard left is simply too much to bear for him and with that, The People's Champ has snagged the WBA Welterweight belt from Matthysse after a victory by a technical knock-out.

This is the first time Pacquiao won a match by a knockout since 2009.

After his dominating success at Malaysia, what's next for the People's Champ? It's only up to him to decide on that. Anyway, congratulations to Manny Pacquiao for another smashing success at this bout.

Last year's champion Martin Truex Jr. dominated Kentucky before and now he's doing it again by winning all two stages and continues all the way to the end of the race, where he placed himself onto Victory Lane once again. That's it. No explanations needed.

Next race is at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 on the 22nd of July.

Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us

Everyone has a different story to tell. From good times to bad times, these wonderful stories tell by a handful of individuals really reflect the lives and times of themselves, especially Pokemon trainers. In this 21st Pokemon film, the tales of different Pokemon trainers will intertwine by fate and how the story unfolds is up to them.

As the sequel to last year's I Choose You film, this 21st Pokemon film is a Pokemon adventure unlike every before and as fans noticed some facial changes on the anime show's main character Satoshi (Ash Ketchum), that's because the producers teamed up with Wit Studio, the animation studio behind our favorite anime shows such as Attack on Titan and The Ancient Magus' Bride, delivering a much refreshed take on our ever favorite Pokemon adventure and this collaboration really onto something here.

In this film, our main character visits a vibrant city where a windy festival honoring the legendary Pokemon Lugia is held and he meets up with five different strangers; a young female trainer, a little girl, a budding researcher, a middle-aged man, and an old lady who dislikes Pokemon. As they know, this film features an all-star cast of voices played by some of the most respectable names in the Japanese entertainment industry and J-pop boy duo Pornografitti performed the theme song of the film as well, leaving viewers starstrucked by the big names playing their respective roles in this film and that's something the whole Japanese people should be talking or writing about.

For inspiration, the producers went to San Francisco to observe the scenery, the vibrance, and the dynamism needed to create the city the main characters are going to and by portraying a vibrant and colorful town brimming with energy and life as seen in the film, viewers are going to take some measures to compare this location from the film and in real life just like every single anime we know where locations mean business. Anyway, this isn't time to be talking locations because let's get to know about the film.

First of all, their appearances can be downright shoddy apart from the main character's different face and the random characters he joined alongside with, and just like I Choose You, the originality of this film kind of let the viewers down because fans wanted the Pokemon films to be just like the TV shows but the film, like last year's, throws caution to the wind and ended up getting lost in the woods full of crowded people. Despite the silly metaphor, this Pokemon film can be considered one of the most enjoyable films to watch in a middle of a Japanese summer of storms and because it's so good, it can easily overshadow the latest mythical Pokemon the moviegoers are getting it now; Zeraora. Speaking of Zeraora, moviegoers watching the film got a chance to get Zeraora for use in Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon games. Donning its signature Plasma Fists attack, this Electric-type mythical Pokemon makes a wonderful addition to the team and take advantage of its offenses that will save the day.

With the big names joining forces, a different approach by a well-known animation studio, and the appearance of Zeraora, this 21st Pokemon film promises to write wonderful stories for the whole family and that's something the world are looking forward to.

My rating: 3.9 out of 5.

Honda N-VAN

The Honda N series of kei cars just got a new addition and this latest addition is considered to be a cut-price solution for people running small businesses of all kinds and that is a good thing because if you are jumpstarting your own small business from the beginning, your obvious way and mean of transportation could be this; the brand new N-VAN.

2019 Honda N-VAN

As the direct replacement for the Acty vans, the Honda N-VAN is the ideal small business partner does all sorts of jobs with its ample room height, generous space, various arrangements, safety tech, and fuel economy that will make small business owners their first ride of choice if they want a light commercial vehicle that gets the done job on work days and room for leisure at the end of the shift. Easier said than done, perhaps.

2019 Honda N-VAN

With prices start at 1,267,920 yen (P600,000) to 1,799,280 yen (P850,000), it's downright costly compared to the Suzuki Every but unlike the Every, the N-VAN does all sorts of things only this kei van can offer. First off, the styling is what you consider too regular because in the normal variant, the N-VAN reminded them of the old N-BOX of yesteryears but in the more stylish +STYLE variants, the FUN and COOL puts them in reminder of today's N-BOX because the front face is easily distinguishable. Still, this is no time for talking style because this is a light commercial vehicle and utility is what the N-VAN is focusing.

2019 Honda N-VAN interior
2019 Honda N-VAN interior

As you are greeted by the pillarless body construction on the passenger side, just like the Daihatsu Tanto, the interior of the N-VAN does many things for work and for travel. Because the fuel tank of this car doesn't occupy most of the space as conventional cars had, the N-VAN delivers plenty of room for stuff to deliver and stuff to pack for your weekend travel plans. Plus, the passenger seats come with a dive-down function that can be folded down and become as flat as a floor, considering how many perishable goods you can deliver to the next wet market or at the supermarket and when you're done with your shift, you can fold it back in case you and your mates are going somewhere. This is productivity plus for the N-VAN and you can't get this on your Every.

The N-VAN is powered by a 660cc petrol engine that can churn out either 53PS of power or 64PS for turbo variants and with CVT, the N-VAN promises a fuel economy of up to 23.8km/L based on JC08 mode standard, which is fairly as fuel efficient as the Suzuki Every. Easier said than done, I'm afraid, but little did you know that there's a 6-speed manual variant on the N-VAN? Manual gearboxes are fun to toy with but not in the N-VAN because this is too serious to turn an LCV into something weird because of that gearbox. For health and safety purposes, the N-VAN comes prepared with Honda Sensing driving aids such as collision avoidance and lane detection, just to give drivers a little heads up while handling some parcels to deliver.

Fit for work and for post-shift leisure, the Honda N-VAN does everything an LCV should offer, delivering ample space for delivering stuff at their desired destination, fuel efficient to get the job done, safety tech to give drivers a little heads up, it's everything that its opponents can't match and like I said, the N-VAN is all about productivity great enough for small business owners.
